Biography

Welcome!

I’m Vicki – illustrator, designer and (would be) space adventurer!

An experienced artist, I have many years under my belt producing work on games both analogue and digital: board and card games, mobile games for phones and tablets, and PC games. I also design logos, icons and promo images for apps, most often for games studios or game shops.

My work is there there to support and enhance a game’s mechanics. Fantastic art can certainly make a game more fun, but a huge part of that is communicating the game to its players.

I can provide a ‘full game’ service: taking a project through from the concept stage all the way to production of the final print files for the components. For board and card games this includes both illustration and graphic design for pretty much any component you could come up with: boards, boxes, cards, counters, fabric bags, wooden blocks etc. For digital games this excludes animation, but includes UI and illustration work.

New designers are always welcome! Please feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions or just want to chat about the production process.

My email address is: vickidaltonart@gmail.com

– Mobile game

“Having met Vicki at the UK Games Expo and seeking her work we felt she had the right style for us. Working with Vicki was easy and after a Skype session to fully understand our requirements she went off and produced the drafts which amazed us. She had ensured that she had an accurate understanding of what we were looking for by engaging with us and once we received the final drafts they exceeded our expectations. Fantastic work, easy and professional to deal with, and her insight helped shape the artistic style of Strategic Defence (mobile app). Would certainly work with her again on any future projects.”

Stephen McIntosh, for work on 'Describability'

Private commission

– Mobile game

“Working with Vicki was a pleasure from start to finish. She delivered a very professional, on-time service with excellent communication throughout. The artwork she has produced for me is incredibly creative, visually attractive and has greatly increased the appeal of my game."

Alan Compton, for work on a new logo

Green Knight Games

– Games shop logo

“Like any small company we were nervous about handing our brand image over to a stranger when we wanted a new logo. Vicki made the design process a smooth, hassle-free experience and we were delighted with the result."

Gordon Lamont, for work on 'Spellbound'

Fragor Games

– Board game

“We used Vicki for the first time this year and were very impressed. Instantly you could tell you were dealing with someone who understood game companies and game art. She was very responsive to our initial ideas and developed them to produce final artwork we were very impressed with. At all times she was extremely easy and good fun to work with. Her communication was fantastic. If you gave her a deadline Vicki always effortlessly made it. We would use her again without hesitation.”

Kyle Daniel, for work on Braggart'

Spiral Galaxy Games

– Card game

“I worked on Braggart for years but it wasn’t until I saw Vicki’s initial artwork that I really felt the game was coming to life. The concept sketches were fantastic and the end result was truly mind blowing. In every sense Vicki ‘got’ the idea of the game to the extent that, for a while at least, I believed she was actually at work at a tiny desk directly inside my brain. While I’ve yet to prove or disprove this theory, it’s a fact that the amazing artwork for Braggart has directly contributed to its success and I cannot recommend her highly enough to anybody looking to add serious visible impact to they games they have created.

Talented, professional and fun to work with. I wish my life was a comic strip that Vicki illustrated.”

Tony Boydell, for work on 'Totemo'

Surprised Stare Games

– Wooden block building game

"As the games designer, I couldn’t be happier with the final results of Vicki’s work – she has captured the important thematic elements with great humour, integrated bright colouration without it being gaudy and demonstrated an inventive approach to the limitations of the mixed wooden and fabric media. I have no doubt that players will be constantly delighted by this visual feast.”
